Art
I started by texture painting the base color for the longsword material. I saved the texture file as a .png, so it could be uploaded along with the .fbx object and applied to materials within Unity.
Development
I first modelled a longsword in Blender. I started by adding a single mesh point and applying the mirror, skin, and subdivision surface modifiers. I then extruded along the z-axis and x-axis to form the general shape of the weapon. I then scaled the various points along each axis to shape the blade to its final form.
